Violet In Private by Melissa Walker

Violet In Private is the third novel in the Violet series by Melissa Walker.

Violet Greenfield just wants to figure out who she is. Is she the supermodel who walks the runways with her head held high? Or is she the college girl who's all about writing for what she believes in? Maybe she can pull off both...

Violet is ignoring her newest campaign for Mirabella. Her agent, Angela, is getting sick of her ignoring her calls. And to make things worse, things are awkward between her and her best friend, Roger, ever since they kissed in the romantic Barcelona. Now, Roger has a new girlfriend named Chloe. They're always together laughing and Violet is always getting pangs of jealousy.

On the sunny side, Violet is going strong in Vassar. She has great new friends, one of them her gay roommate named Kurt who recognizes Violet as soon as she arrives at the dorm. I love Kurt's personality. He's so optimistic and hyper! Kurt is always supporting Violet and encouraging her to follow her heart. I wish I had a friend like him!

In the meantime, Violet isn't sure if she wants to continue with modeling. She's more interested in writing about her opinions on how society critiques models on their height and weight.

I liked how Violet is so ordinary, but also so very unique at the same time. She deals with heartbreak just like every other girl would.  I think teenage girls could easily relate to her life. Melissa Walker makes all the characters seem so real, like you feel that you know them personally after finishing her book. Overall, Violet In Private is an awesome story.

Audrey, Wait!

The Book Blurb:
"California high school student Audrey Cuttler dumps self-involved Evan, the lead singer of a little band called The Do-Gooders. Evan writes, "Audrey, Wait!," a break-up song that's so good it rockets up the billboard charts. And Audrey is suddenly famous!

Now rabid fans are invading her school. '
People' is running articles about her arm-warmers. The lead singer of the Lolitas wants her as his muse. (And the Internet is documenting her every move!) Audrey can't hang out with her best friend or get with her new crush without being mobbed by fans and paparazzi.

Take a wild ride with Audrey as she makes headlines, has outrageous amounts of fun, confronts her ex on MTV, and gets the chance to show the world who she really is."

In my opinion, Audrey, Wait! was definitely a book worth reading. I was instantly loving Audrey and her best friend Victoria. They reminded me of my friends and I, how they joke around and their love for music. This book made me laugh and cry - which is a sign of a great book. It covered all the emotions of a typical teenage girl: happiness, anger, jealousy, and love. I recommend this book for girls ages 13 and up.

Jinx

Jean has always had bad luck. Ever since she was born, strange events have been happening wherever she was. Everyone started calling her Jinx.
Her luck has been so bad, that her parents decide to send her from their farm in Iowa to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in New York. Jinx is extremely exited, but also totally nervous. Her cousin her age, Tory, has always been a great friend and her aunt and uncle are the nicest people.

Tory has changed over the years. But in many ways, Tory and Jinx are alike. For example, they have a crush on the same boy, Zach. They also share a secret that has been passed down in their family for generations. They are both told to be witches, though neither of them believe this legend. These similarities start a "war" between the two girls that include throwing magic spells around at each other, getting Zach involved, and putting the lives of other people in danger. Can Jinx show Tory that magic shouldn't be used for evil purposes? Read Jinx to find out.
