Jean has always had bad luck. Ever since she was born, strange events have been happening wherever she was. Everyone started calling her Jinx.
Her luck has been so bad, that her parents decide to send her from their farm in Iowa to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in New York. Jinx is extremely exited, but also totally nervous. Her cousin her age, Tory, has always been a great friend and her aunt and uncle are the nicest people.
Tory has changed over the years. But in many ways, Tory and Jinx are alike. For example, they have a crush on the same boy, Zach. They also share a secret that has been passed down in their family for generations. They are both told to be witches, though neither of them believe this legend. These similarities start a "war" between the two girls that include throwing magic spells around at each other, getting Zach involved, and putting the lives of other people in danger. Can Jinx show Tory that magic shouldn't be used for evil purposes? Read Jinx to find out.

OHH I've heard many a good thing about this author and I have one of her books.
This sounds like the movie the craft is it along that same line?
I have not seen The Craft, but I just read summary on it. It sounds a lot like Jinx to me.
Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors! :]
