HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIA!

Bookalicious is a blog that Maria and I (her ultra cool mom... ) decided to create to post book reviews and book discussions of young adult fiction that we read.   Since Maria's literature arts teacher started having her students write book reviews for their free choice book selections, I immediately thought it would be great if she had a place to share her reviews with other readers. And since I read a fair share of young adult fiction as well, we thought it would be fun to do it together.  We've had the idea for this blog for awhile, but chose today, Maria's 13th birthday, to christen the blog with its first post!

HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAYMARIA!

Here's to many more years of reading and sharing books together.
I love you!

Happy Birthday Maria - too cool being 13! :) My daughter is 13 also - I'll have to make sure she checks out the blog! :) What a fun thing to do with your Mom - she has to be pretty cool, too! Hope you had a great birthday! :)

What a great idea! I look forward to reading your posts. Some of my favorite YA books are:

The Abhorsen Trilogy: Sabriel, Liriel, and Abhorsen by Garth Nix

His Dark Materials Trilogy: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass by Phil Pullman

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle

Watership Down by Richard Adams

Peter Pan by Sir J. M. Barrie

A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L’Engle

The Dark is Rising Sequence: Over Sea Under Sky, The Dark is Rising, Greenwitch, The Grey King, and Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper (not to be confused with the HORRID movie loosely based on the Dark is Rising!)

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles: Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons, and Talking to Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede

Juniper and Wise Child by Monica Furlong

Nick and Norah's Ultimate Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (soon to be a movie)

Have you read any of these? Obviously I like fantasy. ;)

Good luck blogging! And Happy belated Birthday!
